51st Bonnyrigg take part in the National 1000 km Boys Brigade Challenge
As part of our weekend camp in East Lothian the boys and leaders took part in the Boys Brigade 1000km Challenge.
The 1000km Challenge is aimed at raising awareness of the organisation and its great work engaging with over 20,000 young people across Scotland. Local BB Companies are being challenged to help walk, run, swim or cycle the length and breadth of Scotland;
The senior boys headed to the hills not far from our accomodation at Innerwick outdoor education centre. The walk, as part of a series of practice hikes while the boys work toward thier Duke of Edinburgh Awards was a rewarding activity, despite the challenging windy conditions the group had an enjoyable day. The group was joined by David Scott, Edinburgh, Leith and DIstrict's development officer - who offered some excellent training to the boys.
Meanwhile the junior group walked part of the John Mur Way form the West of Dunbar and into Dunbar's harbour via the sweet shop of course! then a return trip into the steady wind back along the coast to pick up the minibus.
The two groups totalled 28km towards the challenge - well done guys!
